South Beach millionaire developer Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx settled charges Friday stemming from an alleged drunk-driving incident in June. Xxxxxxx attorney Robert Reiff said the state declined to prosecute Xxxxxx for driving under the influence and dropped charges of reckless driving and driving without a valid Florida driver's license. Xxxxxxxx agreed to plead no contest to one charge: running a red light.
Miami Beach police arrested Xxxxxx about 3 a.m. June 29 after he ran a red light on Washington Avenue in his 1993 red Porsche convertible. His blood alcohol level was between .059 and .063, below the state's .08 threshold for drunk driving. Xxxxxx posted $1,000 bond and was released from Dade County Jail later the same day. Because he agreed to take a blood alcohol test and did not prove to be legally drunk, his German driver's license was not suspended. "I just hope this little incident doesn't turn him off of the good he's attempting to do in this town," Reiff said.
